‘On A Clear Day You Can See Forever’
A Late Bloomers Garden Club Flower Show
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 2, 2023 – The earliest recorded flower shows appeared in the 1830’s. During the Victorian era there was a surge of interest in gardening, horticulture, and the discovery of new plant species. The most famous of flower shows that have endured are the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show in Chelsea, London, and the Philadelphia Flower Show. Both feature stunning floral designs and garden vignettes created by professional designers from all over the world.
Late Bloomers Garden Club presents to the public its flower show, “On a Clear Day You Can See Forever,” at the Garden Club of Jacksonville, Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free of charge.
Garden club floral designers from Florida, Georgia, and other Southeastern states will exhibit their creations, reflecting current trends in artistic design.
There will be hundreds of horticultural specimens for the curious gardener.
The photography exhibit will include traditional as well as creative, manipulated images, with educational comments for the public recorded by the judging panels.
A garden design educational exhibit will feature gardens both public and private in Jacksonville.
Garden club volunteers will be on site to guide the public and answer their questions.
Late Bloomers Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club of America and Garden Club of Jacksonville, the two umbrella organizations that are comprised of almost all the garden clubs in the United States.
The purpose of a flower show is threefold: to set standards of artistic and horticultural excellence; to broaden knowledge of horticulture, floral design, conservation, photography and other related areas; and to share the beauty of a show with fellow club members and with the public.
